RULES FOR SOCIAL MEDIA USE AND NETIQUETTE FOR YOUR STUDENTS

RULES:

  1. DO NOT BULLY: Bullying and cyberbullying is one of the most serious problems in schools today. Vicious words can lead students to become violent, depressed, and can cause serious anxiety.

2. DO NOT PPOST CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION: Students tend to not think about the consequences before they post their personal information. For example, students shouldn’t post their full names, address, and social social security number. This is because if you post those things you give access to the social media world to take your identity and also put yourself in a blackhole of fear. Another example, posting if you and your family are going on vacation because if people see that you and your family aren’t home then it gives access to people to know and then you come home and your house is broken into and robbed.

3. SET PRIVACY SETTINGS: When you’re a young student/child, you as a parent and/or teacher need to inform them and make sure that their social media accounts are set to private. If your social media accounts are set to private then only your friends and family who you accepted to be your friend on social media have the ability to see what you post. if you do not have your social media accounts set to private then anyone who knows your name can see what you post and that can leave you in danger. That could lead to danger because for example, if you post that you are walking home from school, a predator can locate where you are and they can kidnap you right there and then.

4. DO NOT BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ: “Fake news” is all over social media like Facebook and Twitter. If it doesn’t sound true, most likely it is not true. When using Facebook and Twitter as your primary source of news, you are walking right into a dangerous territory. Instead, I recommend going to search for a more reliable news source outside of social media.

5. DO NOT POST NEGATIVE: Social media is an outlet to communicate, boost body image, and to make connections with your friends and family. On the other hand, if you’re mad and emotional, you probably want to vent and let it out but social media is not the place to express your feelings. This is because if you post in the heat of the moment you are opening yourself to poor reception of others. My opinion is to breathe, take a moment, and regroup before clicking enter and posting.

My Intent for this Site…

my intent for this site is to to make the student-teacher relationship more interactive. another intent for this site is to make it easier for my students to get the work done and for their parents to help and guide their child in the right direction. I hope that this blog will serve a huge purpose in the teaching for my students. This blog will help students communicate with each other and also communicate with the teacher as well. Doing this will help the student with their learning skills and also there writing skills. It will save the students from writing everything down in a notebook and instead of doing that they can sign into the blog and have everything they need in just one click.
